There’s a new controversy about the Bible going around. When you dig jsut a little bit under the surface this quote form a fired methodist pastor sums it up nicely, “So long as we believe there’s a dividing point in eternity, we’re going to think in terms of us and them,” he said. “But when you believe God has saved everyone, the point is, you’re saved. Live like it.”
However that’s not how God has structured things. God has NOT saved everyone from their sins. The Bible is consistent in saying that ALL men(which means all people) are sinners. What He did through Jesus is give everyone the OPPORTUNITY TO BE SAVED from their sins through belief in His Son Jesus Christ. That’s a very important distinction and one that is NOT being told by this pastor nor Rob Bell whose book started this “Controversy”. The Bible is very clear about how you get into heaven and how you don’t. The Bible then makes it very clear what happens if you don’t accept Jesus as your savior. This is yet another misguided attempt to say everyone can get to heaven or to deny the existence of hell.
