Got everything squared away. got a new case and 8 gigs of ram out of the exercise too..:) I’m rebuilding my machine now but for all intents and purposes I’m up to full speed.

My dekstop has been acting up for a bit now. I finally got around to reformatting the thing..only to disvoer possible video card issues. I then had a client barter me one of her two computers for work outstanding. So now instead of my desktop I’m currently moving from my 10 year old case to a couple year old Antec. Also getting an 8 gig ram upgrade to boot..:) Right now i have my latop hooked up to my mouse. monitor, keyboard, and speakers. I’ll be back at full steam by tuesady..:) So while this means no gaming(no on a single core celeron) i’ll still be around the interwebs..:)

Remember this earlier post? Well here comes the conclusion.  While I have not run into this EXACT idiocy I’ve run into something similar.  The quoted text below is only a snippett…you really need to read the whole post to see just how stupid the fools thought Karl was..:)

There was no resolution offered by the District or the School Principal, of course.  And, as expected, there was also nobody willing to take responsibility for claiming there was a representative process in the Student Council when there in fact is not, and there was no apology forthcoming.  In fact, their “heat” tried to argue there in fact was such a process again; I quickly pointed out that it was about as accurate a claim as it would be if you presented your petition in the former USSR – or to Mubarak before he was deposed.  He didnt like the analogy; in point of fact he refused to look at me the entire rest of the time we were in the room.  I didnt really expect an apology and was well-prepared for an attempted second run at the same claim; in that regard I was not disappointed.

Most of Fred Phelps’ 13 adult children are lawyers, with law degrees from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Those that are still in the church practice in the family law firm, Phelps Chartered, LLC. Phelps himself had been disbarred in 1979 for perjury, but his children carried on the law firm. Over 20 years ago, they discovered that if they picketed AIDS funerals in Kansas, distraught loved ones would lose control, and physically attack the WBC protestors. They sued, and won. Sensing a major income stream, they started protesting full-time, hoping to be attacked. They started picketing full-time at museum exhibits, college graduations, poetry readings, rock concerts, celebrity funerals, and, of course, AIDS funerals? anywhere they could use free speech to get people to attack them. When soldiers started coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan in body bags, they hit paydirt: Protest near not at funerals of soldiers, blaming America’s decline on “,” and wait for the attacks. They raise at least $200,000 a year doing this, and probably more. They fund the picketing business with lawsuits.

The orders came from the command of Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, a three-star general in charge of training Afghan troops – the linchpin of U.S. strategy in the war. Over a four-month period last year, a military cell devoted to what is known as “information operations” at Camp Eggers in Kabul was repeatedly pressured to target visiting senators and other VIPs who met with Caldwell. When the unit resisted the order, arguing that it violated U.S. laws prohibiting the use of propaganda against American citizens, it was subjected to a campaign of retaliation.

“My job in psy-ops is to play with people’s heads, to get the enemy to behave the way we want them to behave,” says Lt. Colonel Michael Holmes, the leader of the IO unit, who received an official reprimand after bucking orders. “I’m prohibited from doing that to our own people. When you ask me to try to use these skills on senators and congressman, you’re crossing a line.”

Wal-Mart tried to leave it’s base that had made it the retail juggernaut.  It’s now paying for these decisions greatly and is now trying to turn itself around.  The question is…can it regain those customers again?

Wal-Mart’s struggles are the result of a misstep: To jump-start lethargic growth and counter the rise of competitors such as cheap-chic rival Target Corp., executives veered away from the winning formula of late founder Sam Walton to provide “every day low prices” to the American working class. Wal-Mart, the world’s biggest retailer by sales, instead raised prices on some items while promoting deals on others.

Company executives acknowledge having miscalculated and are adjusting their strategy again. The big question is how quickly the mammoth chain can turn itself around.

Wal-Mart’s shift from its traditional core customer manifested itself in numerous ways. A foray into organic foods didn’t catch on with discount shoppers. A push to sell trendy fashions like skinny jeans bombed. And an attempt to cut clutter in stores to attract higher-income customers wound up undermining Wal-Mart’s appeal to its traditional audience.

He doesn’t get why though..at least not publicly.  As long as we are over there all the muslims have a common enemy.  All we have to do is leave..and they will do what they do best..fight each other.  The middle east kept itself well in check before we arrived.  They’ll return to fighting each other once we leave.

I have written a letter to the Maryland Senators to show my opposition to Senate Bill 116.  If anyone would like to copy it and send it, please feel free.  You may want to change the 2nd to the last paragraph to something personal about you, unless you, too, were married in 2002 and you have a husband instead of a wife LOL.  Here is a link to the bill if you would like to read it (it is a very quick read) http://mlis.state.md.us/2011rs/bills/sb/sb0116f.pdf

RE: Opposition to Senate Bill 116

Dear Maryland Senators

I am writing to you today to express my opposition to Senate Bill 116 ‘Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act’

All marriages are not created equal and should not be treated as such.   A marriage between a man and a woman is a covenant created between them and God.  It has long been the practice of and benefit to society to maintain this definition of marriage.  Changing the definition of marriage would erode those ideas that are held dear by many, as well as undermine the societal structure of our state and country.

My husband and I were married as per the definition of one man and one woman in 2002.  We have been blessed with children and are honored to raise these children, but more importantly, we see the impact that a household consisting of a husband and wife (one man, one woman) has on the children and their development.

It is my strong hope that you will vote in opposition of Senate Bill 116 ‘Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act’

Sincerely

Heather Warren

But even as they fled in headlong panic, a helicopter sprayed gunfire at them and more fell. Paramedics from ambulances that had rushed to the scene darted forward to help the wounded, but they too were shot at. Several were detained and at least one ambulance was impounded.

Doctors at the nearby Salmaniyah hospital said they had received 32 wounded people, nine of whom were in a critical condition. There were unconfirmed reports of two deaths at Pearl Roundabout, but witnesses said the bodies had been seized by the army.

Not about protecting your paychecks..yes.  It’s about protecting the corruption that is modern unions.  If modern unions actually protected their membership I would not have a problem with them.  That lofty goal of protecting workers and their rights went by the wayside long long ago…maybe this will wake up the individual members of these “unions” so they’ll look at what kind of “representation” they are really getting..and change it.

In an interview, Bell said her message stopped short of endorsing the kind of coordinated action that closed Madison schools Wednesday. She asked teachers who “could” come to the rally to come.

Those eco-nazis strike again.  hoard those incandescent bulbs while you can…until the eco-nutjobs get their ban so we can start using ever more dangerous “green” products.  So far most of the “green” technologies are even more harmful than the “dangerous” things they were supposed to replace.

The LED bulbs sold as safe and eco-friendly can contain high levels of lead, arsenic and other hazardous substances, a new UC Irvine study shows – the same bulbs widely used in headlights, traffic lights, even holiday lights.

The toxic material could increase the risk of cancer, kidney disease and other illnesses, although the risks are more long-term than immediate; a single exposure to a broken bulb is unlikely to cause illness.

“I wouldn’t worry about an immediate release of vapor,” said UC Irvine public health and social ecology professor Oladele Ogunseitan, principal investigator and an author of the study. “But still, when these residues hang around the house, if not cleaned up properly they could constitute an eventual danger.”

The lights should be treated as hazardous materials, and should not be disposed of in regular landfill trash, he said, because of the risk of leaching into soil and groundwater.

High intensity, red bulbs contained the most arsenic, while low-intensity red lights harbored as much as eight times the amount of lead permitted by state law, the study showed.

White bulbs had low amounts of lead but higher amounts of nickel, also a potentially hazardous substance.

“The EIA Energy Information Administration predicts plants with 7.7 gigawatts of capacity will close by 2018. Cambridge, Massachusetts-based The Brattle Group, a consulting firm, said in December that 50 to 65 gigawatts of capacity may be closed by 2020 because of environmental regulations. Analysts at Zurich-based bank Credit Suisse Group AG said in September that about 60 gigawatts of coal capacity may be retired,” reports Newsmax.“We’re going to see massive retirements within the next five, eight years,” Chu said at a renewable-energy conference in Washington yesterday.“Smaller, older units” that burn coal “won’t be economic under new clean air standards,” said Luke Popovich, a spokesman for the Washington-based National Mining Association. This means that the larger transnational energy companies with close Obama administration ties like General Electric, who have been given waivers for the EPA carbon restrictions, will see their competition eliminated and be given free reign to jack up prices even further by creating artificial scarcity.Americans will be made to foot the bill as part of Obama’s publicly stated agenda to bankrupt the coal industry in the move towards a “green economy,” which has little to do with the environment and everything to do with hollowing out America’s industrial base so that the country may be more easily swallowed up by the “post-industrial revolution” that remains the goal of the global elite.

These are the standard I hold for Frederick County Public Schools and my children as well.

I was called at approximately noon today to inform me that my daughter had sat at a table with other students, rather than at the table for her class.  Her purpose in doing so, which she informed me she intended to do last evening, was to peaceably assemble with another student of her acquaintance during her lunch break.  For this act of peaceable assembly she had been told to go to lunch detention at the front of the room, and she had politely refused. For this refusal she was sent to the office. These facts have all been admitted to and are without dispute.A call was made to me in an apparent attempt to enlist me in applying some sort of sanction for her conduct.  You may consider this letter my pointed and vociferous refusal, and a direct challenge to this School policy. In reaching my conclusion I asked what purpose of the alleged rule had that she violated, that is, how her decision to peaceably assemble with another student of her acquaintance during non-instructional time while consuming her lunch in any way harmed the educational mission or execution within the school day.  I was told that in the past some students had behaved in an unruly manner, including leaving trays and other debris after departing the lunch room at some point during previous school years. However, it was explicitly admitted that she had not committed any such offense.  Under questioning the administration admitted that she properly disposed of her tray and other debris, there was no student displaced from a seat at the table to which he would have otherwise been entitled and there was no misbehavior such as a raucous conversation.  The alleged rule which she had intentionally broken, that of demanding that she refrain from said peaceable conversation with a person of her choosing, under obvious logical analysis, is nothing more than both prior restraint and collective punishment for an offense that has not in fact taken place.  The sanction applied also implicates a fundamental human right of peaceable assembly.Certainly any school has a right to sanction students who are unable to behave in a cordial and peaceable manner during lunch or any other time while on school grounds. It is unquestionable that the educational mission of a school requires that conversation between students be refrained from during instructional periods when attention should be paid to the material being presented.  But no such argument can be made of disruption of the educational environment by a student simply choosing to have a quiet conversation with a friend while consuming lunch in the cafeteria.Further, I was told that she had a right to attempt changing this policy through a representative process in the Student Council.  Upon further questioning, however, this assertion proved to be false.  Not only does the Student Council have no binding power of any sort this matter had been previously put to them in past years, they had passed open seating at lunch as a resolution, and the Administration then unilaterally revoked the decision of the Council instead of applying sanction to any wrong-doers.  This was a mistake on the part of the administration as my willingness to cooperate always instantly evaporates if an attempt is made to deceive for the purpose of enlisting my agreement.Collective punishment and deprivation of a student’s right to peaceable and quiet assembly with their classmates during non-instructional periods of the day is a poor and unwarranted excuse for the apparent rank arrogance and incompetence displayed by school staff who are unable or unwilling to do their job in policing the lunchroom and sanctioning those students who engage in inappropriate behavior on an individual basis.

Zimbra has been a bit hit.  I’m currently trying to get the software lifecycles synchronized.  Zimbra 7 has just been released.. unfortunately zimbra does not support Debian any longer.  Centos 6 is about to be released and I’m not a fan of Ubuntu.  Centos 5 expires in 2014 which is about the same time as Zimbra 7.  It looks like I’ll stick with Centos 5 until the EOL of Zimbra 7.  Then for Zimbra 8 change both the Zimbra version and the host operating system.

Servers:  One of the donated rackmounts is now running Astaro again.  Untangle let me down when it counted and the conduct of their founder and COO i find distateful.  I ahd a bad e-mail get past the Untangle system and infect one of my users computers.  I’ve since switched to Astaro and frankly I couldn’t be happier.  Not only has the spam detection gone up to near 99% or higher but false positives are nearly zero.  So far the Astaro is rejecting 90% of all spam mail before it even gets to the anti-spam and a/v engines.  This has led to a marked decrease in resource usage by the Zimbra server.  I honestly had no idea how much was getting by the Untangle until i installed Astaro.

I also had all the ups units in the server room fail.  Luckily I was able to get a new single, large ups that’s ultimately capable of running everything in the server room for at least 10 minutes.  Once i get the control software installed the main server will be able to send graceful shutdown signals to the mail server and firewall server if there is a sustained power disruption.  The file server will also shutdown gracefully meaning less chances of file system crashes or corruptions..:)

There’s a couple of large projects coming but i’m not going to talk about them until everything is in place..:)

Got the new server online months ago..sorry for the lack of news.  I wound up sticking with Debian.  Everything went smoothly and now there are several domains running off of this box including multiple streaming servers.  Now a bigger challenge looms…moving this station to a new location AND hooking everything up to it’s new location.  will keep folks posted as I can.

Big Sis seized upon the spectacle of the Super Bowl to saturate the public with the inherently fascist public-private partnership which has given birth to the “See Something, Say Something” monstrosity, the citizen snitch program that has wiped away any doubt that America is now a rotting banana republic. But this only marks the beginning of the role DHS sees itself in assuming as part of its occupation of the country.Homeland Security is also developing technology to be used at “security events” which purports to monitor “malintent” on behalf of an individual who passes through a checkpoint. The video below explains how “Future Attribute Screening Technology” FAST checkpoints will conduct “physiological” and “behavioral” tests in order to weed out suspected terrorists and criminals. The clip shows individuals who attend “security events” being led into trailers before they are interrogated as to whether they are terrorists while lie detector-style computer programs analyze their physiological responses. The subjects are asked about their whereabouts, and if they are attempting to smuggle bombs or recording devices into the “expo,” proving that the technology is intended to be used at public events and not just airports. Individuals who do not satisfy the first lie detector-style test are then asked “additional questions”.The fact that Homeland Security’s own internal reports list supporting political candidates like Ron Paul, flying US flags, owning gold, displaying political bumper stickers, or owning firearms as signs of behavioral malintent that could be linked to terrorism or extremism tells you all you need to know about how FAST checkpoints could be used to snag political dissidents who commit the thought crime of believing they still had any rights under the US Constitution that Janet Napolitano is gleefully ripping to shreds.

Last month, the Obama EPA began enforcing new rules regulating the greenhouse gas emissions from any new or expanded power plants.

This week, the EPA issued its first exemption, Environment & Energy News reports:

The Obama administration will spare a stalled power plant project in California from the newest federal limits on greenhouse gases and conventional air pollution, U.S. EPA says in a new court filing that marks a policy shift in the face of industry groups and Republicans accusing the agency of holding up construction of large industrial facilities.

According to a declaration by air chief Gina McCarthy, officials reviewed EPA policies and decided it was appropriate to “grandfather” projects such as the Avenal Power Center, a proposed 600-megawatt power plant in the San Joaquin Valley, so they are exempted from rules such as new air quality standards for smog-forming nitrogen dioxide (NO2).

There’s something interesting about the Avenal Power Center:

The proposed Avenal Energy project will be a combined-cycle generating plant consisting of two natural gas-fired General Electric 7FA Gas Turbines with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and one General Electric Steam Turbine.

Maybe GE CEO Jeff Immelt’s closeness to President Obama, and his broad support for Obama’s agenda, had nothing to do with this exemption. But we have no way of knowing that, and given the administration’s record of regularly misleading Americans regarding lobbyists, frankly, I wouldn’t trust the White House if they told me there was no connection.

On the upside, at least Job Czar Immelt is creating jobs!

via Obama issues global warming rules in January, gives GE an exemption in February | Timothy P. Carney | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner.

The inability of power companies to meet demand is almost exclusively a consequence of the Obama administration’s publicly stated goal to bankrupt the coal industry and in turn ram through the de-industrialization of America under the guise of the phony global warming mantra.

Even as China and Mexico are allowed to build dozens of new power plants every year, the United States is barely permitted to construct a handful, as the Environmental Protection Agency takes control of refineries and power plants under the completely fraudulent pretext of preventing global warming even as the country experiences some of the coldest weather seen for decades.

Texas has been the epicenter in a battle over the Obama administration’s drive to have the EPA regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Texas is the only state that has refused to implement a permit process.

“Austin said it would not establish such a scheme for greenhouse gas emissions because the US Environmental Protection Agency had no authority to regulate them as of January 2,” reported the Financial Times.

“Twelve other states are mounting a legal challenge to the federal government’s authority but they, unlike Texas, are implementing the new measures while the dispute makes its way through the courts.”

Local environmental officials in Texas were again involved in a fight with the EPA after the, “Texas Commission on Environmental Quality last week approved an air permit for the $3.2 billion Las Brisas Energy Center despite a formal EPA request that the commission delay issuing the permit until EPA’s concerns about the plant’s emissions impacts are fully addressed.”

via Obama’s Blocking Of New Power Plants Triggers Nationwide Blackouts.

Global warming.  the Obama EPA is now ordering these rolling blackouts to curb “green house gases” and “global warming”.  Wake up america.

What might the motivation for these blackouts be? I hope you are sitting down. In an effort to curb CO2 emissions linked to the discredited and castrated theory of global warming, the imposition of rolling blackouts was an effort to keep the state of Texas from breeching the new carbon quotas now enforced by the EPA. Unbeknownst by most people, the EPA had a court issued stay lifted from them implementing their plans on January 19,2011. According to powermag.com…

“A federal court last week lifted an emergency stay that had prevented the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from proceeding with a Federal Implementation Plan (FIP) for Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting of greenhouse gas sources in Texas while it considered legal challenges against the agency’s authority. The court’s decision means that EPA-issued regulations can curb greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and other large stationary sources in that state.”

Stock up with Fresh Food that lasts with eFoodsDirect (Ad)

Therein is the real purpose for the rolling blackouts. In order to keep Texans from breeching a bureaucratic quota whose goal is to save humanity from an imaginary threat, we must all freeze. Remember that we must all sacrifice if we are to defeat global warming, and the real enemy of humanity is of course itself.
