WorldNetDaily: Is GOP heading for the tall grass?

An interesting article. I have some issues with some points which i will address.

“Of what does he stand accused? He put his wife and daughter on his campaign staff, for pay. But, so what? Robert F. Kennedy ran JFK’s campaign, a practice common in politics.”

This practice may be common in politics but that does not make it ethical. Just becuase everybody does it does not make it right. The dems have successfully latched onto this ethics issue and with the MSN’s help blown it way up. It almost came crashing down when it came to forming an ethics committee to investigate the issue since some of the top dems in congress are also under investigation for ethics issues. This part of the story was quickly squashed.

“Under fire, DeLay has backed away from his words. But if his friends back away from him, they will be behaving both cravenly and foolishly. For the enemies of Tom DeLay are after larger game than taking down a majority leader. They want to demonize DeLay’s ideas, abort his agenda and neuter his party. If Republicans can’t see this, they lack the instincts to survive long as America’s majority party.”

There’s one big problem with this paragraph. DeLay has no friends the instant he made waves. The rebulocrats and demopuplicans only have outer shells of differences. Both parties right now are basically the same internally. There are a few differences..but not enough to call them truly conservative or liberal. The GOP is already in the tall grass and they are getting quite cozy with the Dems. This is why I am now a registered independent.

WorldNetDaily: ‘Atomic Iran’ TV ad rejected

This is an interesting advertising campaign. I wish more folks would have hte courage to expose the radical muslim’s appetite for and single mindedness about destroying not only america..but anyone who does not share their rdical beliefs.

You can view the extended version here.

WorldNetDaily: Iran’s imminent threat

This threat if substantiated gives me a large pause. AN EMP attack would wipe out most civillian infrastructure for sure. Most of the military ships would be ok as they are hardened against EMP. I could get my lawyer client back online quickly(provided his local power grid was not fried) and i would have a slightly more diffulcult time. I am not going to raise an alarm here..yet..but htis is threat to be taken seriously.

CO. Leftie whines about Focus on the Family

: “WASHINGTON – Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar lashed out at Focus on the Family Thursday, saying the group is using ‘un-Christian’ political tactics in the fight over White House judicial appointments.

Salazar defended Democrats’ right to filibuster objectionable nominees and blasted the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based evangelical Christian group for recent ads urging him to ‘STOP the nonsense.’

‘I do think that what has happened here is there has been a hijacking of the U.S. Senate by what I call the religious right wing of the country,’ Salazar told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday.

He singled out Focus on the Family by name, objecting to full-page newspaper ads the ministry’s political arm recently placed, targeting 20 senators in 15 states.

‘I think what has happened is Focus on the Family has been hijacking Christianity and become an appendage of the Republican Party,’ Salazar said in an interview. ‘I think it’s using Christianity and religion in a very unprincipled way.'”

Of course he has issues with Focus doing what it is allowed to do under hte first amendment..of course since it is not working in his leftist favor now he wants to whine and criticize..:)

WorldNetDaily: Democrats long for ‘Fairness Doctrine’

WorldNetDaily: Democrats long for ‘Fairness Doctrine’: “Imposed originally by the Federal Communications Commission in 1949, the Fairness Doctrine was ruled unconstitutional by a U.S. Court of Appeals in 1986. The court found the rule was not a law but only a regulation, so it could be rescinded by the FCC ? which it was. President Reagan vetoed a 1987 attempt by Congress to make the policy law.

In 1993, Congress unsuccessfully attempted to re-institute the rule. At the time, talk-radio giant Rush Limbaugh rallied his supporters to help defeat the effort, which he dubbed the ‘Hush Rush’ bill.”

The lefties/marxists just do not get it. Their worthless prattle they are spewing on Air America even their base can’t stand. Kinda telling don’t ya think?

Praise the Lord

I have to tell you something..every ounce of my being wants to have a coniption fit over what has been going on. It is only by the Grace of The Lord that I am calm as this emotional storm rages about me. My previous post only shows the tip of the iceberg as to what is going on. I am struggling to find work and while i have started my own business it is just starting its second year and it is going slow. It is slowly picking up though. Again this is just a small life is not miserable by any accounts we are just going through a series of storms right now. I pulled up a new Fernando Ortega cd we bought(that i have ripped to my file server) and silently asked God to help me. Of course praise breaks out..:) Here is the song that has a hold of me..a powerful mesage indeed. The song is called Creation Song. The album is the breaking of the dawn.

He wraps Himself in light
As with a garment
He spreads out the heavens
And walks on the wings of the wind
He sends forth the springs from the valleys
They flow between mountains
The birds of the air dwell by the waters
Lifting their voices in song

Singing glory, glory!
Glory to the Lamb!
All praises and honor forever

He made the moon for its seasons
The sun knows its setting
He looks at the earth and it trembles
He touches the mountains and they smoke
I will sing to the Lord all my life
I will sing praises to my God
As long as I live
Praises to the Lord, oh my soul

I got a gentle reminder about a song i wrote..granted only the lyrics..but i wrote it under inspiration of the Holy Spirit::

Lord you saved me,

Lord you saved me,

You sent your only Son

To die that lonely death

Praise be to God

You saved me

As a small child

I new your face

As I grew bigger

I left you behind

But you never left me

I grew older and did things my way

You put things in my path to change my ways

But I pressed on and continued to sin

I danced with the devil

I thought I could do it myself

I finally fell flat on my face

And you were there extending your hand

Now I am getting to know you again

My life is not mine it never was

Take it Father and show me your plan

I have the promises you gave me

I see them daily in my little girl

Lord, help me to raise her as your child

And when it comes for her time to choose

I want to be able to hear her say

The lyrics above are copyright 2003-2005 by myself.

A loooooooong night

Our daughter came home form a weekend visitation with her biological mother with head lice. AFter spending 2.5 hours last night treating her and getting all bedding and clothes and whatnot isolated and prepared for washing we finally got her to bed. We had to trash all of her hairbands, schunchies, and a hairbrush. All in all we spent 30 bucks on the hair treatment and threw away another 50 in hair products. Last visitation she came back with a rash on her stomach, chest, and back from clothes she played dress up in that had not been properly laundered(if they had been laundered at all). On top of this we had to cancel a trip to Ohio we have been planning for 6 months. Also her grandmother(my wife’s mother) who lives in Baltimore 1.5 hours away has to be informed as well. So this has saved us 20 bucks( gas money for hte care) but cost us much more monetarily and emotinally. Alessa is not happy we are having to cancel not only the trip but her youth group tonight as well. I have to be quiet now since the rest of anything i type will simply be anger..:(

Yahoo! News – Liberal U.S. Catholics Dismayed at Choice of Pope

I hope Benedict XVI continues to dismay the liberals..:)

I have been hunting for this quote from Benedict and i found it, “How many winds of doctrine we have known in recent decades, how many ideological currents, how many ways of thinking? The small boat of thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves ? thrown from one extreme to the other: from Marxism to liberalism, even to libertinism; from collectivism to radical individualism; from atheism to a vague religious mysticism; from agnosticism to syncretism, and so forth. Every day new sects are created and what Saint Paul says about human trickery comes true, with cunning which tries to draw those into error (cf Eph 4, 14). Having a clear faith, based on the Creed of the Church, is often labeled today as a fundamentalism. Whereas, relativism, which is letting oneself be tossed and ‘swept along by every wind of teaching’, looks like the only attitude (acceptable) to today’s standards. We are moving towards a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires.” – Pope Benedict XVI, yesterday.

I am not a catholic but i agree with Benedict 100% in everything he said in the above quote.

Here is the homily in it’s entirety:

Homily at the Mass for the Election of the Roman Pontiff

The text below is a very strong call for a return to Christian witness in the face of all the problems that the Church been going through in recent years. – Editor

VATICAN CITY?April 18, 2005: Here is the text of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger’s homily at the Mass for the Election of the Roman Pontiff

At this hour of great responsibility, we hear with special consideration what the Lord says to us in his own words. From the three readings I would like to examine just a few passages which concern us directly at this time.

The first reading gives us a prophetic depiction of the person of the Messiah ? a depiction which takes all its meaning from the moment Jesus reads the text in the synagogue in Nazareth, when he says: ?Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing? (Lk 4,21). At the core of the prophetic text we find a word which seems contradictory, at least at first sight. The Messiah, speaking of himself, says that he was sent ?To announce a year of favor from the Lord and a day of vindication by our God? (Is 61,2). We hear with joy the news of a year of favor: divine mercy puts a limit on evil ? the Holy Father told us. Jesus Christ is divine mercy in person: encountering Christ means encountering the mercy of God. Christ?s mandate has become our mandate through priestly anointing. We are called to proclaim ? not only with our words, but with our lives, and through the valuable signs of the sacraments, the ?year of favor from the Lord?. But what does the prophet Isaiah mean when he announces the ?day of vindication by our God?? In Nazareth, Jesus did not pronounce these words in his reading of the prophet?s text ? Jesus concluded by announcing the year of favor. Was this, perhaps, the reason for the scandal which took place after his sermon? We do not know. In any case, the Lord gave a genuine commentary on these words by being put to death on the cross. Saint Peter says: ?He himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross? (1 Pe 2,24). And Saint Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians: ?Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, ?Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree?, that the blessing of Abraham might be extended to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.? (Gal 3, 13s).

The mercy of Christ is not a cheap grace; it does not presume a trivialization of evil. Christ carries in his body and on his soul all the weight of evil, and all its destructive force. He burns and transforms evil through suffering, in the fire of his suffering love. The day of vindication and the year of favor meet in the paschal mystery, in Christ died and risen. This is the vindication of God: he himself, in the person of the Son, suffers for us. The more we are touched by the mercy of the Lord, the more we draw closer in solidarity with his suffering ? and become willing to bear in our flesh ?what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ? (Col 1, 24).

In the second reading, the letter to the Ephesians, we see basically three aspects: first, the ministries and charisms in the Church, as gifts of the Lord risen and ascended into heaven. Then there is the maturing of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, as a condition and essence of unity in the body of Christ. Finally, there is the common participation in the growth of the body of Christ – of the transformation of the world into communion with the Lord.

Let us dwell on only two points. The first is the journey towards ?the maturity of Christ? as it is said in the Italian text, simplifying it a bit. More precisely, according to the Greek text, we should speak of the ?measure of the fullness of Christ?, to which we are called to reach in order to be true adults in the faith. We should not remain infants in faith, in a state of minority. And what does it mean to be an infant in faith? Saint Paul answers: it means ?tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery? (Eph 4, 14). This description is very relevant today!

How many winds of doctrine we have known in recent decades, how many ideological currents, how many ways of thinking? The small boat of thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves ? thrown from one extreme to the other: from Marxism to liberalism, even to libertinism; from collectivism to radical individualism; from atheism to a vague religious mysticism; from agnosticism to syncretism, and so forth. Every day new sects are created and what Saint Paul says about human trickery comes true, with cunning which tries to draw those into error (cf Eph 4, 14). Having a clear faith, based on the Creed of the Church, is often labeled today as a fundamentalism. Whereas, relativism, which is letting oneself be tossed and ?swept along by every wind of teaching?, looks like the only attitude (acceptable) to today?s standards. We are moving towards a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one?s own ego and one?s own desires.

However, we have a different goal: the Son of God, true man. He is the measure of true humanism. Being an ?Adult? means having a faith which does not follow the waves of today?s fashions or the latest novelties. A faith which is deeply rooted in friendship with Christ is adult and mature. It is this friendship which opens us up to all that is good and gives us the knowledge to judge true from false, and deceit from truth. We must become mature in this adult faith; we must guide the flock of Christ to this faith. And it is this faith ? only faith ? which creates unity and takes form in love. On this theme, Saint Paul offers us some beautiful words – in contrast to the continual ups and downs of those were are like infants, tossed about by the waves: (he says) make truth in love, as the basic formula of Christian existence. In Christ, truth and love coincide. To the extent that we draw near to Christ, in our own life, truth and love merge. Love without truth would be blind; truth without love would be like ?a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal? (1 Cor 13,1).

Looking now at the richness of the Gospel reading, I would like to make only two small observations. The Lord addresses to us these wonderful words: ?
no longer call you slaves?I have called you friends? (Jn 15,15). So many times we feel like, and it is true, that we are only useless servants. (cf Lk 17,10). And despite this, the Lord calls us friends, he makes us his friends, he gives us his friendship. The Lord defines friendship in a dual way. There are no secrets among friends: Christ tells us all everything he hears from the Father; he gives us his full trust, and with that, also knowledge. He reveals his face and his heart to us. He shows us his tenderness for us, his passionate love that goes to the madness of the cross. He entrusts us, he gives us power to speak in his name: ?this is my body?,? ?I forgive you?.? He entrusts us with his body, the Church. He entrusts our weak minds and our weak hands with his truth ? the mystery of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the mystery of God who ?so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son? (Jn 3, 16). He made us his friends ? and how do we respond?

The second element with which Jesus defines friendship is the communion of wills. For the Romans ?Idem velle ? idem nolle,? (same desires, same dislikes ) was also the definition of friendship. ?You are my friends if you do what I command you.? (Jn 15, 14). Friendship with Christ coincides with what is said in the third request of the Our Father: ?Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven?. At the hour in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus transformed our rebellious human will in a will shaped and united to the divine will. He suffered the whole experience of our autonomy ? and precisely bringing our will into the hands of God, he have us true freedom: ?Not my will, but your will be done.” In this communion of wills our redemption takes place: being friends of Jesus to become friends of God. How much more we love Jesus, how much more we know him, how much more our true freedom grows as well as our joy in being redeemed. Thank you, Jesus, for your friendship!

The other element of the Gospel to which I would like to refer is the teaching of Jesus on bearing fruit: ?I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain? (Jn 15, 16). It is here that is expressed the dynamic existence of the Christian, the apostle: I chose you to go and bear fruit?.? We must be inspired by a holy restlessness: restlessness to bring to everyone the gift of faith, of friendship with Christ. In truth, the love and friendship of God was given to us so that it would also be shared with others. We have received the faith to give it to others ? we are priests meant to serve others. And we must bring a fruit that will remain. All people want to leave a mark which lasts. But what remains? Money does not. Buildings do not, nor books. After a certain amount of time, whether long or short, all these things disappear. The only thing which remains forever is the human soul, the human person created by God for eternity. The fruit which remains then is that which we have sowed in human souls ? love, knowledge, a gesture capable of touching the heart, words which open the soul to joy in the Lord. Let us then go to the Lord and pray to him, so that he may help us bear fruit which remains. Only in this way will the earth be changed from a valley of tears to a garden of God.

In conclusion, returning again to the letter to the Ephesians, which says with words from Psalm 68 that Christ, ascending into heaven, ?gave gifts to men? (Eph 4,8). The victor offers gifts. And these gifts are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Our ministry is a gift of Christ to humankind, to build up his body ? the new world. We live out our ministry in this way, as a gift of Christ to humanity! But at this time, above all, we pray with insistence to the Lord, so that after the great gift of Pope John Paul II, he again gives us a pastor according to his own heart, a pastor who guides us to knowledge in Christ, to his love and to true joy. Amen.

*Update* The homosexuals and other liberals are not happy. Honestly, I am joyous at the selection of this pope. I pray he remains true to his staunch conservatism.

La Shawn Barber?s Corner ? AgJobs Debate

Bush’s open door to invasion policy is now being voted on in congress.
Now if somebody is doing something that is contrary to the security of our country and therefore violating his oath of office…this is grounds for impeachment no? Of course it won’t happen since we are in a “global economy”. Yep that is the first step the next step to tribulation is the global religion and global currency. The currency is coming very soon i bet..jsut watch.

Vox Day also puts his comments in which as usual are right on the money:

I know the many Republicans here – even those who are not the Three Monkeys variety – don’t like to hear this, but there’s no question that George Bush will eventually be proven to have been far more worthy of impeachment than Bill Clinton ever was.

The signs are all there. You just have to be willing to look at them. The President’s unwillingness to defend the southern border has nothing to do with economic growth or being pro-immigration and everything to do with the end of America in its current incarnation. # articles. The Mudslinging Begins for the ’06 Campaign.

The Gov and the Legislature are blaming each other for various issues and failures. From the State houses that pushed their usual liberal agendas to a governor that proved to be a total RINO(he should have run under the democratic ticket) Maryland as far as i am concerned is worse off. However as one commenter says in one of the articles, But I served in public office for eight years and learned that you really can’t succeed in blaming someone else. You have to take responsibility and get the job done.” This is something neither side is doing which is politics as usual in Maryland.

Here are the articles:

Article 2
Article 3

I will update this post with my thoughts once i have been able to thorougly read all three articles. However just from a quick glance it appears this state campaign might rival the Ann Rice vs G.W. Bush gov. race in texas a while back that became nationally known and put Texas on the map as the political mudslinging capital in the U.S. at the time.

Lone Star Times ? 36 RINOS: THE LIST

Heh. It sedems RINOS abound everywhere. Now the question is can my home state get riled enough to toss out the lefties and RINOS and get some true reps in there? Frankly, I do not care their party affiliation..if their record shows they truly work to represent their constituents then those candidates should be elected.

Yahoo! News – Congress Clears Bankruptcy Overhaul

Anyone who is debt..get ready for the CC companies to pile on more. For those who are not in debt or mildly in debt..get ready for lenders to pile it on. Either will get extended to rediculous porpostions. If you cannot afford to pay for it..don’t pay for it on a cc. The amount of Americans drowning in debt is going to skyrocket and now Americans who are not known for managing credit well are going to get hammered more. This is definitly slanted towards creditors..but there is something else to keep in mind. You borrowed the made the choice. Do what me and my wife have done..justt say no to CC’s. We have a house payment and a car payment..that’s it in terms of long term debt. No cc’s and we won’t have any.

*update* MSNBC of all places has another good article on this. It seems the Repubs mainly voted for it with Dems mainly voted against it in the house and all repubs and some dems voted for it in the senate. Now taxes really can bug you

If you use those online web-based free tax filing sites take heart in knowing hte companies running htose sites are tracking you and can capture anything they want.

The IRS.GOV site does not use webbugs..this is for sites like and h and r block’s site.

lgf: CAIR Founder Convicted of Terrorism

The MSM is not mentioning that CAIR’s founder is linked to terrorists. Of course the lefties do not want that to come out as it would blow down their terrorists are merely freedom fighters house of cards.

Ehrlich Declares Slots, Veterans Tax Break Dead

Happy Happy Joy Joy! Slots are dead. i am not often a fan of Democrats but I have to say to House speaker Michael E. Busch: “You go dude!”

I quote the article:
“The speaker is not interested in moving on this issue,” Ehrlich told The Gazette on Saturday during a break between sessions of the House and Senate. “Everyone has tried 51 ways from Jump Street to save horseracing and move the speaker, but that has not happened.”

Ehrlich said on WBAL radio on Saturday that slots was “dead for the next two years.”

He told reporters in Annapolis several hours later that the issue would still come up, but it is less than likely the General Assembly would pass the bill in an election year. The governor also said that he plans on using the issue to his advantage as he runs for re-election next year.

“This issue will certainly play out in the 2006 campaign in a very large way,” Ehrlich said.

You betcha it will come up in the get you booted out of office! Ding Dong the RINO’S gone is the song I hope to be singing come the govenor’s elction..:)

My experience at the Washington DC cherry blossom festival

I had a wonderful time with my family today. Aside from being stiff and my feet being numb from 3.5 miles of walking..I am feeling quite refreshed..:) On to the real reason for this post….

I am not a raving greenie but I do believe we should be good stewards of our environment. That being said I went with my wife and our daughter to DC for the annual cherry blossom festival. What first struck me was the immense beauty of all of the Japanese cherry trees in full bloom. Then, a habit I have kept from my pagan days, I began looking at the trees themselves. The trunks and branches were often gnarled and crooked. Some of the trees were growing at grotesque angles with branches growing every which away. My wife then wanted to take a different path, when I inquired why she told me the following things:
1.) Only 1/10th of the original trees are left that Japan originally gave to DC
2.) Those that are gone have died.
3.) One thing is that many of the roots are exposed(which I noticed. I know this is not good for trees in general but it goes even further)..the roots of the cherry trees are more sensitive than the native plants and the constant foot traffic often renders the roots unable to pull nutrient the tree needs to survive.
4.) The foot traffic around the trees when not on the roots themselves also squeezes the water and nutrients out of the soil further denying the trees the badly needed nutrients needed for survival
5.) The trees also do not respond well to being climbed on either.

After Gen told me this I took a closer interest in the trees. I noted all of them has gnarls or bruises on them or grew at really weird angles. Out of the probably hundred trees I saw only 3-5 I saw where in good shape. Their trunks were straight, their branches formed a beautiful canopy, and their roots covered. These trees where either behind fences well away from the thousands upon thousands of folks walking around or roped off, again well away from the foot traffic.

It saddens me to see this. While the beauty is the price worth it? Not if it means the trees destruction. Let’s spread the word about how to save the trees for future generations. It’s easy..change how you walk around the trees, don’t pull the blossoms off, and don’t climb them. The national parks dept is trying to plant more and there where several new trees you could see that has either been very recently planted or where just recently planted in the past few years. Even some of them showed distress. We could not find our camera so I do not have pictures of both the beauty and the distress. The trip was great..and I intend to go back..but this time with a new respect for not only for the beauty of the blossoms…but of the trees themselves.

This was a great learning experience for our daughter too. Once I had put all of this together me and gen were able to explain it to our daughter as well. We are planting the seeds in her now as well so hopefully the trees with our small contribution both when we visit and here on this blog will still be there when she is old enough to take her children down there..:)

lgf: A Court Gone Insane

I hope the gov’t there appeals this first ot the full 9th circus and then the supreme court and allows this conviction to stand. I did not like Clinton but frankly i would expect to be jailed for threatening to kill him. I feel the same way about threats made to Bush. I am no fan of Bush but threatening to kill him is a jailable offense.

Medmal reform sinks out of sight

Tort reform is badly needed. However Ehrlich’s statement,”I have told individual doctors, the votes aren’t there,” Ehrlich said. “Brian Frosh is a trial lawyer, and he will always be there. Mike Miller is a trial lawyer, and he has promised me there will be no tort reform in a blue state. They [doctors] are going to have to wait until the next election.” is not going to get him re-elected.

Ehrlich trims goals as session winds down

I am pleased at some of the defeats Ehrlich has taken and I am hoping for him to defeat some other things the dem are trying to hsove through. I am hoping he will do one thing that goes against his RINO tag..:)

“Ehrlich even held out hope — not shared by Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. or House Speaker Michael E. Busch — that some deal could still be struck on slots.”

Kill slots..that’s all i have to say

“Meanwhile, even some of the governor’s Republican allies are questioning his lobbying skills as Democrats pass bill after bill on party-line votes, with measures from gay rights to the minimum wage to the Wal-Mart tax headed to his desk.”

All of these should die and would go nicely towards Ehrlich loosing his RINO tag with me.

Reserving a place

Time to bring the Natinal Guard folks back ASAP. Let’s get ourselves out of the areas we have no business being in and get our folks home.

Parents unite to address concerns

While I am not a fan of public schools it is refreshing to see parents attempting to get involved. One quote in this article bothers me especially since i live here:
“Brunswick, for example, has 32 percent of its population living in poverty”

The Frederick News-Post Online – General Assembly OKs gay rights bills

Oh lovely. Of course our state’s legislature is controlled by Dems and a ton of RINO’s. Frankly..unless Ehrlich gets a tons of pressure from the citizens of Maryland he will sign it since he is the head RINO in Maryland.

Let’s just pray this thing gets held up until Tuesday(the session ends on monday) and then it dies forever after that.

Here is the article:
General Assembly OKs gay rights bills

Publish Date: 04/08/05

ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland General Assembly on Thursday passed two bills that expand gay rights, allowing same-sex couples to enter into “life partnerships” and increasing penalties for hate crimes committed against homosexuals.

The controversial pair of bills caused emotional and contentious debate throughout the 90-day legislative session.

The House of Delegates approved 83-50 the Medical Decision Making Act. It would allow unmarried same-sex and heterosexual couples to register with the state as “life partners,” a designation that gives them the right to make medical decisions for each other.

Before the vote, Republicans came down hard on the Medical Decision Making Act.

Minority Whip Anthony O’Donnell said the legislation “chips away at the traditional institution of marriage” and would “rip families apart.” Delegate Don Dwyer, R-Anne Arundel, called it a “civil union bill.”

In response, Delegate Richard Madaleno, a Montgomery County Democrat who is one of three openly gay members of the state legislature, pleaded with his peers to extend basic human rights to unmarried couples.

The legislation guarantees life partners the right to visit each other in the hospital or nursing home, share ambulance rides and make decisions about whether to bury or cremate after death.

“I want the person I love and spend my life with, my life partner, to be allowed into the hospital and to have a part in my medical decisions,” Mr. Madaleno said. The delegate added he and his partner would sign up for the registry, “if and when” the bill becomes law.

Frederick County delegates were split on the issue. Delegates Galen Clagett, a Democrat, and Richard Weldon, a Republican, voted for the bill.

“To me, its about unmarried couples who’ve been in committed relationships being able to participate in medical and end-of-life situations together,” Mr. Weldon said.

But Frederick Delegates Joseph Bartlett, Patrick Hogan and Paul Stull — all Republicans — said no to the bill. Delegate Donald Elliott was in the hospital recovering from surgery and missed the voting session.

“I saw the bill as constituting a thinly veiled progression of the homosexual agenda,” Mr. Bartlett said.

Slightly different versions of the Medial Decision Making Act have passed both the Senate and House. At least one version of the bill needs to clear both chambers by Monday, the last day of the session, or the proposal will die.

Gov. Robert Ehrlich will not take a position on the bill unless the bill reaches his desk, his spokesman, Henry Fawell, said.

Also Thursday, Senators voted 34-13 in favor of the Hate Crime Penalties Act, a bill that would trigger stiffer penalties for crimes committed against gays, bisexuals and members of the transgendered community. Penalties would include up to 20 years in prison and $20,000 fine, if the crime results in death.

Conservative Republican Sen. Alex Mooney of Frederick voted against the bill. On Wednesday, Mr. Mooney offered a dozen amendments trying to extend protections to other groups including: nurses, pregnant women, teachers, veterans and civil rights leaders.

“It is a very extreme version of the gay rights agenda,” Mr. Mooney said. “… It is simply very bad policy for the state of Maryland to go down this road.”

Sen. David Brinkley, R-Frederick, who originally opposed the idea, cast a green vote after a colleague offered an amendment to protect religious leaders who express their views on homosexuality.

“There is a recognized problem with someone being able to discuss their view on homosexuality,” Mr. Brinkley said. “… We’re trying to prevent that.”

The hate crimes bill will now return to the House for approval of the Senate amendments, before reaching the desk of Gov. Robert Ehrlich. The House had passed an earlier version of the bill.

Mr. Phillips made some excellent points, but he falls short on one point: Our current president is no ally in our fight vs. illegal immigrants. He seeks to impugn those defending our country because they’re not on his payroll. And he has done everything to encourage the corrupt President Fox of Mexico in his fight to eradicate our borders.

Bush and his pathetic cronies in Congress should be impeached for failing to uphold their oaths. Clinton deserves every bit of criticism sent his way, but at least we knew he was a sleaze. Bush promised us he would do better. He lied.

Michael Maier

I said this same thing about Clinton. Clinton we knew was a sleaze. I had no idea Bush would turn out to be the open borders invade our country at will as long as you do not use military force person he has shown himself to be.

Dereliction of duty

While Congress is bickering, name-calling, finger-pointing, pouting and in general acting childish, the Minutemen are trying to pick up the government’s primary responsibility of protecting our borders in the interim. Their operating costs will continue to increase, however, as the out-of-control gasoline prices continue to skyrocket as the price of oil heads toward the predicted-by-some-economists $100-a-barrel mark.

The responsibility of actually running our government has been ceded to the “men in black robes” until Congress can settle their differences. The deck is also somewhat stacked against the Minutemen in that the United Nations and international law are beginning to supersede Congress and U.S. laws. Mexico seems to have become the authority regarding illegal immigrant issues. U.S. trade issues have already been relegated to Europe and Mexico. Things seem to be getting simpler for Congress.

Withdraw from world stage

Its time to bring all of our troops home. What right do we have to be the world’s policeman when we can’t stop the judicial murder of a woman here. Bring them all home and post them on the border. Should we be attacked again we’ll just go nuclear.

With an out of control judiciary, a dead Constitution, and a really do-nothing Congress and president, we need to withdraw from the world stage.

Ken Lowder

Here here! I have been saying something similar. Bring the national guard folks back. Put them on the borders. Any countries who decided to go against us withdraw our troops and bases and put those troops on our borders. Border security works like this. If you try to cross illegally you get one warning shot. If you continue to attempt to breach oour’re dead.

Border babysitters?

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our government now sees fit to send 500 new agents to the border in Arizona. It is an outrage that it takes a group of citizens to form a watch program before action is taken by the government. My concern is that these new agents are not being sent to curb illegal immigration, but to keep an eye on the concerned citizens of the Minuteman project.

I am sure the new agents will arrest the Minutemen for any minor infraction while illegal aliens are sneaking in behind their back. I refuse to believe that the new agents are there to protect the border after our own president called them “vigilantes.” These agents are there to monitor the “vigilantes” and not the border.

The coming financial crash for many Americans and possibly the real estate market as well

I see more and more folks jumping on the interest only loans scam. This is very dangerous. Sure your payments are lower…for 3-10 years..then you start paying off the principal as well..then you take a big hit. Since almost all of these interest only loans are adjustable if/when interest rates go up after your interest only section goes away your payments jump even more.

The best way to avoid this trap is to not use some tricky loan or fancy math to get into more house than you can afford. Me and gen got the house we could afford. We are under a 30-year fixed rate mortage. No interest only or math tricky loans just a good old fashioned loan.

The other side of the issue is lending agents are lowering their standards to pile on the debt to Americans. They are getting great short term results but as more and more folks get overburndened they will start defaulting then the whole house of cards is going to fall down. We had this back in the 80’s with the S&L crash. We may have another even larger one brewing either in this decade but surely in the next if things continue the way they are going.

Here we go again?

Here we go again apparently. Let’s see what is going on with this one. What is being alleged is that this woman is being starved against her living will. This is extremly disturbing if authenticated.

Hat tip to CosmicX for leading me to this one.

*update* The case continues. Posts appear at The Lone Star Times, and Blogs for Terri.

GOP eyes ‘nuclear option’ for judges – Politics –

I doubt Frist has the backbone to actually use this. In another article linked here, the dems vow to retaliate. Of course this comes from the party of “tolerance”. Tolerance of course we all know means it is tolerated as long as you tow their line. The instant you don’t you are labled hard, devisive, intolerant, hate monger,..etc etc etc. That pretty much sums Christians up theses days. Oh I forgot the best one..homophobe.

FrontPage :: The Campus Left’s War on ROTC by Jamie Weinstein

Since the leftists in our country cannot destroy our military in the courts (though they are trying)..they want to cut off the only other means our military has to gain folks..they are trying to kill all recruitment. Like all leftists they are not thinking clearly. If they are successful in killing recruitment…how is the military going to keep its staffing levels needed to protect our country? got it..the one other thing they pontificate and whine about..a draft. Let’s see, you kill recuritment..this leads to massive personnel shortages. The military needs folks just to do basic operations and cannot get any so they have one choice left. They activate the selective service roles and draft. Guess who the first traitors to leave the country will be once this starts? You guessed it..the same leftists that killed the volunteer side of the military will be the first ones to split when the going gets nasty. Sounds like a bunch of cockroaches scattering when you turn the light on eh?

WorldNetDaily: E-mail to the Editor

There are some great letters at World net Daily today. I am reposting my favorites:

Coverage of pope lacking

I read your e-zine daily or even more. However, I must comment on the fact that coverage of the death of the pope is nearly half way down the page, instead of large-font breaking news at the top of the page.

He is after all, not simply the head of the Roman Catholic Church, he is recognized as a “world” leader. Is he “secondary” news to you for some reason?

Barbara O’ Dea

(Then this rebuttal letter which is the reason i posted the above one)

Doing God’s will

I appreciated your [Pat Buchanan’s] comments on the pope. As a 48-year-old father of six, it is disappointing that the “worldly” commentators don’t get it. The Church is not about doing what is popular, but what is the will of God.

Mike Landrigan

Nasty joke

I am disgusted with Bush “justice.” It is a very nasty joke that Mr. Burglar goes unpunished, while servicemen are being sent to prison for defending their country under hellish conditions.

This administration is a heartbreaking disappointment on so many fronts. In a matter of days:

1. President Bush commends Michael (“When is that bitch gonna die?”) Schiavo for his “grace and dignity” after Schiavo successfully completes his government-sanctioned murder.

2. President Bush curtseys before Vicente Fox (again) and condemns the brave Minutemen as “vigilantes.”

3. Sandy Burglar gets a pass (and probably a pat on the back).

4. Then there’s Bush 41 and The Impeached One reprising their “tour” to the latest earthquake victims.

I am a business attorney, and I say this: The law is a big, fat rear-end.

Edited by me for language

So, behind closed doors at the White House, is our president strutting around in a flight suit, examining the events of the past week, and saying with a smirk: “Mission accomplished”?

Alan Foster

Rat wins rat race

We charge combat soldiers who are fighting ruthless terrorists in house-to-house fighting with murder; this slime ball walks and we continue to host the contemptible United Nations.

Thanks to media like WND, Rush and Sean, people are finally starting to get it, though. I just hope it’s not too little too late.

Tim Eno

The Democrats made many people Republicans.

But when a former national security adviser steals classified documents and is let off the hook; when the president calls good people “vigilantes” for doing the job he should be doing; when a party that you have helped elect is too timid to act in appointing constitutional judges; when a governor refuses to take action to save a woman’s life … the Republicans are doing a great job of making us independents!

FBI seeks expanded search powers – Terrorism & Security –

Now that some Police State Act(known as thee Patriot Act) provisions are going to expire..they FBI/CIA wants them not only renewed but expanded.

I quote the linked articdle, “FBI Director Robert Mueller on Tuesday asked lawmakers to expand the bureau?s ability to obtain records without first asking a judge, and he joined Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in seeking that every temporary provision of the anti-terrorism Patriot Act be renewed.

?Now is not the time for us to be engaging in unilateral disarmament? on the legal weapons now available for fighting terrorism, Gonzales, for his part, told senators.”

Now is the perfect time to kill this part of the Police State Act right now. The next step is to pressure our congressman to repeal the Police State Act altogether and make them come up with something that requires the gov’t agencies to follow our constitution and communicate with each other. There is no need for them to be able to do searched without a court order.

WorldNetDaily: But what made him great?

While I may have some issues with some of the Catholic tenets..I hold John Paul II in the highest regards. He is one of the few popes in my memory that stood for Jesus Christ and not simply just the catholic church.

Yahoo! News – Officials Urge Renewal of Patriot Act

WASHINGTON – The Bush administration’s two top law enforcement officials on Tuesday urged Congress to renew every provision of the anti-terror Patriot Act. FBI Director Robert Mueller also asked lawmakers to expand the bureau’s ability to obtain records without first asking a judge.
Without getting into an in depth examination of the Patriot Act, this provision alone should make it go away. There are too many unconstitutional things in this law and the whole package needs to go away. Urge your representavtives to NOT renew the Patriot Act..but to ensure it dies the death it needs to die.

Near the end comes this quote:

Just in case, Craig and Durbin want Congress to curb both expiring and nonexpiring parts of the Patriot Act, including the expiring “library” provision and “sneak and peek” or delayed notification warrants. Those warrants ? which will not expire in December ? allow federal officials to search suspects’ homes without telling them until later.

The Justice Department said federal prosecutors have asked for 155 such warrants since 2001.

Gonzales also notes that the law has been used in non-terrorism cases. For example, federal officials used it to track over the Internet a woman who ultimately confessed to strangling an 8-months-pregnant woman and cutting the fetus from her womb.”
Now while this was a heinous crime..does this not bother anyone? This anti-terrorism statute has now been in the investigation of a murder that was not terrorism related. Call me paranoid but typical of Big gov’t they are testing this abuse to see what the reaction is..which will predictably be nothing. This will lead to further exansions of the Gov’t survelliance under the guise of “protecting us from terrorism”.

My Weekly Kudos that No-One Deserves

Well, thanks to HCS, I have a new title for my this week’s props. It seems to fit nicely. I would like to thank HCS for putting up with my bad mood this week. It has been emotionally draining.

Again, regrettably, the props go to Mr. Nobody. I am so saddened that no one is really stepping up to go extremely good deeds. Maybe everyone’s emotions are frayed by all of the deaths this week. It has been strange with so many people dying. Maybe, we are astonished that groups who have traditionally followed certain ideologies are no longer holding to them. Maybe, well who knows.

I hope next week that someone will step up to the plate on this.

ps HCS much love to you as always. thanks for being my pillar this week Welcome!

“According to the American Civil Liberties Union and gay rights groups the site should be taken down because it is trying to dictate values.”

Oh NO! A Government website not pandering to the sexually immoral! How terrible! This must be destroyed at once becuase it is the American thing to do!

Guess what? Wrong answer! It is amazing. When it is election time these leftists chatter about family values and working for families but what they realy want is the destruction of the faily.
