I have been offered, and accepted, full time employment as a security analyst for a US Federal gov’t contractor. i will be part of a team helping to secure a gov’t agencies internal security. The pay is better than anything I could have imagined and the challenge is high. it also means that my servers and stuff that I once did for a passion, but which became a business, can become a passion again. I take this step with a sense of bittersweetness. I have been running my own business for more than 12 years. I loose that freedom which is hard to give up. That freedom came at a high cost of stress to me and my family and the lack of being able to afford medical insurance which is required in this day to afford even basic healthcare. I will now have a full retirement plan as well. Now this is no guarantee it will stay even past one year..but for now, this is the opportunity ahead of me. My business took my passion and made it something I had to do instead of something I wanted to do. Now I can make it something i want to do once again. I will also have tuition assistance to increase my security knowledge. My first step is CISSP. If I am going for one of hem let’s go straight for one of the top ones. I have imported all of my posts at my business site to here in preparation to shutting down that site. i will leave the web hosting section up though. it is automated, and not hard to administer. It is also 100% self-sustaining in terms of cash flow. I intend to grow that while I work this job. Feel free to access not only my personal posting but years of postings I reserved for my business site. Everything will be concentrated here from now on…I will still research network security as it is part of my new job…but now will be part of my newfound passion as well. I could write a novel on this…but this is all for now..:)
 
BTW what is my ultimate goal? To get back to sea onboard a Navy ship as a contractor. I miss the ocean…I hear it’s calling.
